Data & verification

Unknown stays unknown until the evidence is strong enough.

Garage Opener Help is intentionally incomplete. Coverage expands only when a diagnostic or compatibility relationship can be traced to current manufacturer documentation or an official model manual.

Current brand coverage

Dedicated model and guide coverage currently focuses on LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Linear / Nice, Marantec, Overhead Door, Raynor. Universal accessories may include additional manufacturers when the accessory maker publishes an explicit compatibility row, but that does not create a model hub for a brand we have not independently verified.

Identification evidence is not the same as compatibility proof

The identification tool can narrow a receiver or programming family from a documented Learn button, PROGRAM/SET workflow, radio-frequency label or external receiver. Those clues are intentionally weaker than an exact model/receiver compatibility row. When the user continues into Remote Compatibility Finder, the clue is prefilled but remains editable and must still resolve to a verified compatibility record. Wall Control Compatibility Finder uses the motor-unit model for wired controls, while wireless wall consoles remain subject to the active radio receiver.

What “verified” means here

A compatibility row needs a manufacturer compatibility chart, current product page, official manual or support article that ties the accessory to the opener model, control interface, receiver family, Learn-button generation or documented radio technology. For wired wall controls, connector shape and wire count alone are not enough. For wireless wall consoles, radio generation still matters. Case shape, button count, marketplace listings and “same frequency” claims are not enough by themselves.

How conflicting manufacturer pages are handled

Manufacturer documentation can conflict across generations or even across support pages. When that happens, Garage Opener Help does not silently merge the claims. We prefer the most specific current chart for the exact product generation, preserve the generation boundary, and avoid turning an older general statement into a universal rule.

Example of the rule: Genie Safe-T-Beam documentation has legacy support wording that is not perfectly consistent with the current self-diagnostic chart. Diagnostic pages follow the current self-diagnostic chart for the represented sensor pattern and keep legacy product-support wording scoped to the product it describes.

What a missing row means

A missing compatibility row means not verified in this database. It does not automatically mean “incompatible.” The tool should route you back to the exact opener label, active receiver, Learn button or manufacturer chart instead of converting missing evidence into a negative claim.

Correction path

If a manufacturer changes a chart or you find an official source that contradicts a published relationship, use the correction channel when available and include the exact model/accessory plus the manufacturer URL. See the troubleshooting methodology and editorial policy for the broader publication rules.
