Garage door opener power, battery backup and connectivity problems
Troubleshoot opener power loss, battery-backup behavior, beeping, Wi-Fi/router changes, myQ connection states and connected-opener recovery paths.
Separate local opener operation from power, backup-battery and network state. A door that still operates from the wall control but is offline belongs to a different branch than an opener with no AC power or a depleted backup battery.
Start by separating physical opener operation from connected features. Confirm whether the wall control moves the door, whether AC power is present, whether a backup-battery indicator or beeping pattern is active, and whether only the app/Wi-Fi path is affected.
Router changes, Wi-Fi LED states and myQ compatibility should not be mixed with motor or safety-sensor faults unless the opener also shows a local movement problem. Preserve the LED/app state before resetting network settings so you do not erase the best evidence.
What to capture before changing anything
- Confirm AC power and whether the wall control still operates the opener.
- Record battery indicator/beeping state before replacing a backup battery.
- For Wi-Fi issues, record router change, opener LED state and whether local operation still works.
- Use exact model compatibility before assuming an external smart controller or myQ path is supported.
