Diagnose doors that reverse, stop short, hit the floor and reopen, fail to reach full travel or show abnormal force/RPM behavior.
The reversal point matters. A door that reverses before touching the floor, after contacting the floor, or while opening belongs to different diagnostic branches even if all three are described as 'it reverses.'
First record direction and position: opening or closing, before the floor or after floor contact, same height every time or random. Then combine that observation with any manufacturer code instead of adjusting force blindly.
Travel settings are only one branch. Binding, balance, rollers, hinges, travel-module faults and safety-system events can produce similar visible outcomes. Door hardware or spring problems should move the job out of a settings-only DIY path.
What to capture before changing anything
- Record direction of travel and exact reversal/stopping point.
- Check whether a diagnostic code was captured at the same time.
- Do not increase force to mask a heavy, binding or damaged door.
- Stop DIY if manual door movement is abnormal or springs/cables are involved.
